About
Steven Porter - Director
I was born and brought up in London but have been lucky enough to have lived and worked in a few other places around the world including Hamburg, Germany which was home for six years and where I learnt to speak German.
My love of Architecture started early. Childhood walks with my mother in the early 70’s around our home in central London, along the banks of the Thames and through the parks, took us past some of the capital’s most notable buildings. I loved it all - the brutalist Pimlico School, Stucco fronted Belgravian mansions, the Lillington Gardens estate, Dolphin Square, and the classical St. Peter’s Church all searing themselves in to my memory.
After graduating from my Architectural Technology course I worked for a design practice in West London. I started Porter Haworth in 2005 and moved west shortly after. My arrival in Dorset brought with it a set of new challenges, working with a wide variety of buildings and materials not previously encountered before in London.
Lyme Regis is now home to the company where we are lucky to have offices located in a Grade II listed building with views over The Cobb and out to sea.
In 2017 I volunteered as an RNLI Deputy Launching Authority at the Lyme Regis Lifeboat Station.
