The Bolthole

An existing, rudimentary shed in a garden a couple of miles outside of Lyme Regis in one of the areas most sough after villages. The task was to create a space suitable for holiday letting. A new kitchen and shower room were constructed along with an open plan sleeping/sitting area. Earthy colours and some mid-century furniture create a cool, calm environment for a weekend away.

The exterior needed attention too. We love the simplicity and striking colours of Derek Jarman’s house, Prospect Cottage, on Dungeness Beach and applied the same principle here with timber cladding in black and the windows highlighted in a bright yellow. The black blends well with the greenery of the garden and the yellow adds a splash of year round colour.
